How it works.

The Authentic Brand Communication process combines thoughtful, self-directed exercises with consultative discussions. The entire process can be conducted via video conference, so you can be anywhere in the world and still work on your branding and content development.

Introductory Meeting: During a one-hour meeting, you can share background information about your organization and your goals for branding and content development. It is also a time to ask questions and share any concerns about the branding process. Then we will introduce the first exercise.

Self-Directed Exercises: Each of 8 easy-to-understand and thought-provoking exercises breaks down a particular aspect of branding into “bite-sized” pieces. We start with your Core Values — what could be more authentic? Then you’ll take time to think about key aspect of the work you do like what makes you unique or what future impact you’d like to have. For larger teams or organizations with complex dynamics, real-time facilitation of these exercises is available.

One-to-One Consultative Discussions: After each exercise, we schedule a 30-minute one-to-one discussion. The goal is to clarify any questions and to make recommendations for refining your results. Then we’ll introduce the next exercise so you are prepared to dive in. If you have any questions as you work through the exercises, support is available.

A Note about pacing: Everyone goes through the branding process at their own pace. We recommend completing at least one exercise and one discussion per week to keep your branding process moving ahead, but you ultimately control the pace based on your schedule.

The Final Product: As we go through each exercise, you will find the process increasingly helpful in defining how you talk about who you are and what you do. Still, there is a bigger picture.

At the end of the process, you will have developed a set of six (6) elements that form your Brand Platform. As the name suggests, a Brand Platform is a foundation on which you can build your marketing, make decisions, and create positive experiences for your customers or members.

The six (6) elements of your Brand Platform are:

  1. The Mission of your business or organization

  2. Your Vision for the future

  3. The Unique Position your business or organization holds in the marketplace or community

  4. Your Core Values as they relate to your work

  5. Your Brand Attributes, which describe key characteristics of your business or organization

  6. Key Brand Actions that help you deliver a consistent experience for your customers/members

Your Brand Platform will be formatted into a one-page document that you will refer to often. In our final review meeting, we will make any last adjustments to your Brand Platform and will suggest powerful ways to use it going forward. When you receive your Brand Platform, it will be framed so you can place it prominently in your office or work area.
